SCCP AT UCSF STUDENT LEADER STRUCTURE
Post-UCSF Curriculum Transformation 2020 - Beyond Students are selected to join the SCCP leadership in their P1 year as a Committee Member during the fall quarter. Later, in Winter Quarter, new Board Members are appointed by the previous board leadership. The new board serves a 1-year term from the middle of the academic year (around February/March) to the middle of the following year. SCCP at UCSF 2019 At the student chapter level, students serve as leaders for 1 year terms starting at the end of their P1 year, with the exception of the prior year's president elect assuming the role of a co-president. During transition between new and old curriculum, a student from both the transformed and pathways curricula will serve as co-presidents. SCCP at UCSF 2013 - 2018 At the student chapter level, students serve as leaders for 1 year terms starting at the end of their P1 year. These terms then end during their P2 year when transitions occur for members. The president of the student chapter has a 2 year term, starting as President-Elect in their 2nd year and then becoming president during their 3rd year prior to rotations. NCCCP AT UCSF STUDENT LEADER STRUCTURE Before ACCP established student chapters, UCSF NCCCP Student Leaders served 3- to 4-year terms. They were usually appointed during their P1 year, which allowed them time to become oriented to NCCCP and ACCP organizations prior to taking full responsibility for UCSF NCCCP student projects. UCSF NCCCP Student Leaders took primary responsibility for activities during their P2 year, and moved into an advisory capacity during their P3 and P4 years. UCSF NCCCP Student Leaders often began serving as ACCP Student Liaisons for UCSF during their P3 year, and they were also eligible to apply for appointment to the ACCP National Student Advisory Board. HISTORY
- Spring 2018: The end of the year saw the return of the popular Coffee Break program with the following faculty: Dorie Apollonio (PhD), Patrick Finley (PharmD), Leslie Floren (PharmD), Stephanie Hsia (PharmD), Shuvo Roy (PhD), Deanna Kroetz (PhD), Nancy Hessol (MSPH). This quarter's faculty Coffee Break faculty provided students with a diverse set of interests to explore, including HIV Epidemiology, Public Health/Policy, and Mental Healthcare. We also implemented a new ACCP Clinical Pharmacy Journal Club which aims to meet once month; one student chooses a paper, creates a presentation, and presents to other student attendees of the Journal Club with the aim of helping students learn how to analyze, organize, and present research evidence in a comfortable and supportive environment. Occasionally, faculty members will also join the Journal Club to help stimulate discussion and provide expert POV-- this quarter, we were very excited to have Dr. James Lightwood take part in a session regarding Bio-equivalency & Transplant medicine.
- Spring 2017: A new research program SCCP at UCSF implemented was the “ACCP-SCCP at UCSF Coffee Breaks.” The pilot program incorporated five UCSF School of Pharmacy faculty. These five faculty met with 1-2 pharmacy students in a casual meeting over coffee to discuss anything from research projects to career path advice. 9 Students and 5 researchers could choose from a variety of cafe locations around the Parnassus and Mission Bay campuses and were treated to a beverage of their choosing courtesy of SCCP at UCSF. Our program aimed to initiate a dialogue between students interested in research and researchers looking get to know students beyond the classroom.
